Meryna is a London-based independent non-profit organisation, currently in the process of applying to the UK Charity Commission to become a Charity Incorporated Organisation- as represented by Meltem Baykal of Hewitsons Solicitors- Meryna will specifically function as an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO).

Meryna’s constitutional objectives are to promote social inclusion, health and wellbeing for the public benefit principally in the UK, Europe and Middle East, in particular by promoting initiatives which involve creative and therapeutic arts, education and training. Meryna will work with all people to promote these objects and in particular communities who are socially excluded as a result of war, displacement and associated trauma.

Meryna was founded by British-Iraqi community artist, Tara Jaffar, in response to the growing need for post-war rehabilitation in the Middle East, as well as finding ways of integrating generations of migrants, who may struggle in establishing their sense of identity and belonging.
